This book is my way of paying it forward. Through this book, I hope to help other mothers become successful in their own transitions. I hope to help many women notice the signs in their lives; and thus recognize that it’s time for them to transition to a new season,” Dumadag says.

“Through these personal anecdotes of mine, I hope to encourage other women to make a leap of faith into the life that they have been dreaming for themselves and for the ones they love,” she added.

Feature Interview and Answers

1. What inspired you to write From Career Woman to SAHM, WAHM then
Businessmom?

My own life and career transitions inspired me to write this book. I was a career
woman for many years until I got married. Then, I left my high-paying job to
become a stay-at-home mom to prioritize building a family. I was pregnant with
our firstborn when I became a SAHM. When my eldest was already a toddler, I
became a work-at-home mom (WAHM) by accepting freelance writing and
editing jobs, blogging and human resource projects that I can do online. As my
firstborn grew older, I accepted HR projects from corporate clients like whole day
and out-of-town workshops more frequently.
Whenever I become pregnant and give birth (like when I had my second and
third child), I focus more on my duties as a breastfeeding an homeschooling
mom. When my baby starts eating solid food at 6 months or older, I take on more
work again that I can do from home and I accept speaking engagements that are
last only for a few hours or half a day and within Metro Manila. When my kids
become toddlers, I begin accepting whole day and out-of-town workshops again.
Eventually, I started my own website where I sell my books, online courses and
other products while I continue to do my consulting business.

2. Why did you write this book?
I wrote this book because I want to help mothers who are going through career
transitions or mothers who are considering to make career transitions but do not
have the courage to leave their jobs or do not know how to make a career
change successfully. I want to tell them that they do not need to feel trapped in
their jobs. I also want to inspire and encourage moms who want to start their own
businesses. I want to tell them that it’s possible to set-up your own business
while raising a family.
It’s my way of paying it forward. One of my mentors, Bo Sanchez, said that after
we have become successful, we should now strive for significance. That is
helping others to become successful like us.
I’m also doing a book promotion on April 18-19 so I can help more mothers
through this book. My eBook From Career Woman to SAHM, WAHM then
Businessmom can be downloaded for FREE during these days.

4. What’s sets this book apart from other books that talk about career
transitions or career changes?
What sets this book apart from other books on career is that it includes a spiritual
perspective. I encourage people to go through career discernment when
considering any career changes. Most books just discuss the practical and
financial aspects. But because I am a Christian and a Catholic, I shared that I
went through career discernment. I also shared how God has guided me in my
decisions and how He has been instrumental to my successes and
achievements. I shared some of the Bible verses that inspired me in my
discernment.
5. What was the main challenge that you encountered in writing this book?
My main challenge was to finish it amid my busyness as a mom of three active
boys whom I homeschool. I also breastfeed my youngest. I do not have a maid or
helper at home. I needed to creatively find time to work on this book project
without losing sight of my priority, which is my family.
6. What 3 lessons on career transition would you like to share to our readers?
• Give yourself permission to change the course of your life and to steer it to
the direction of your dreams. Don’t assume the victim mentality. You have
the power to effect change in your life.
• It’s never too late or too early to make a career change or career
transition.
• Believe in yourself and in your abilities. Don’t let the negative words or
disapproval of other people discourage you.

10.What is your number one advice to aspiring businessmoms?
Start small but don’t be afraid to dream big. We make a lot of mistakes when we
are new in business. We are still learning. When we start small, we also make
small mistakes. However, don’t be afraid to dream big for your business. Remember that many
big businesses also started as small businesses. Their years of hard work
eventually paid off. That can also happen to you. But first, you need to believe
and see that as a possibility.

I find it interesting at first. The plot got me curious about what will happen. The chapters feel like I’m watching a movie every time I turned the pages. Every time I read the book I encounter a words that made me look up to the dictionary and I find it challenging but nice. It made my vocabulary expand. It has a good transition. All in all it’s a good story.
